Project Overview

As part of my internship at Wilson Sporting Goods, I was tasked with creating concepts for patches that would be included with the purchase of a limited edition game ball for the 2024 NCAA Men's Final Four held in Phoenix, Arizona. With the playoff tournament being held in Arizona, I took inspiration from the state's expansive geography and national parks and crossing them over with basketball imagery.

Moodboard

Before starting on a design, I created a moodboard to establish a direction for the visual design of the patches. I populated the moodboard with imagery of basketball, national parks, and the Southwestern United States. The moodboard was then presented to the rest of the Team Sports team for approval.

Concepts

Moving forward, I then created five different concepts based on the created moodboard - blending imagery of basketball and the Arizona landscape.

Patches

Once I had presented the visual concepts for the patches, the senior designers on the team selected a number of designs to move forward with. The concepts were then used and incorporated into the final patch designs as seen here:
